Making Waves for Mental Health: Matthew Takes on the Paddle Across the Bay Challenge

Back to news

At Magma Electrical, we believe in more than just powering homes and businesses with clean, renewable energy—we're also committed to supporting causes that illuminate lives in other ways. This March, our director Matthew, is trading his work boots for a paddle as he takes on the 10km Paddle Across the Bay challenge to raise funds for Lifeline.

Why This Cause Matters

Each year, more than 3,000 Australians tragically lose their lives to suicide. That’s over 3,000 families, communities, and friendships forever changed. Mental health is a challenge that touches all of us in some way, and it’s a cause close to our hearts.

Lifeline, an organization that has been a beacon of hope for Australians in crisis, is facing unprecedented demand. Every 28 seconds, someone reaches out to Lifeline for help. Their services are vital, offering suicide prevention support and critical assistance to individuals navigating their darkest moments. By participating in this fundraiser, Matthew is joining the fight to ensure Lifeline can continue being there when it matters most.

The Challenge

The Paddle Across the Bay event isn’t just about paddling across 10 kilometers of open water—it’s about making waves for change. It’s a physical and mental challenge, but for Matthew, it’s also a deeply personal one. Every movement is a step toward hope, every kilometer a reminder of the lives that can be touched and saved through our collective efforts.

How You Can Help

We’re calling on our incredible Magma Electrical community to rally behind Matthew as he takes on this inspiring challenge. Your donations can directly support Lifeline’s life-saving services. No amount is too small—every dollar raised contributes to:

  • Providing 24/7 crisis support through Lifeline’s phone, text, and online chat services.
  • Expanding suicide prevention programs to reach more Australians in need.
  • Delivering training and resources to empower communities to support mental health.
